In extensive routing tests with diamond coated GCT MicroSpeed router at a big pcb manufacturer in Wuxi tool life increased by factor 24 compared to uncoated tools.
Requirement:
- 10 layer ML, each 2.20 mm thick
- high Tg material IT-180IBS and IT-180ITC from ITEQ with Tg 180°C
- routing of 3 panels / stack
- GCT router type 1700 1500 085 4
- parameter were not published on customers request
Results:
- >120 m tool life with GCT MicroSpeed router
- only 5 m tool life with uncoated router
Beside significant cost reductions the process capability improved further.
